I can browse to my files okay from the Skifta client on my phone Samsung Galaxy s2 but for most of my music it is only showing the first one or two songs from each artist.
What is likely to be causing this problem?
Does it index the files as a background process that is just taking ages or is there something I need to do with the files?
I have 27,576 mp3's totalling 195Gb.

Okay, answering my own question then.
It's finally showing all my music so I guess it just takes a while to index it all.
No - Skifta doesn't index it.
On android, Skifta uses the android media database.
On your computer or other device, it's up to the media server what it does. You didn't indicate what the media server is - so we don't have enough details about your configuration.
Needless to say, 195Gb of MP3s, whilst impressive, is probably going to blow the memory stack of any media server... or, if your media server builds the list on disk - will take a lonnnnnnng time ;-)
