I cant access skifta via 3 or 4G due to the auto update saying i need wifi to download update. does it HAVE to update every time i open it? it did this to me the first time i tried to use skifta out of the range of my home wifi. i have a htc evo 3d and am streaming from foobar2000.

You only need to use wifi the very first time you start skifta.
If you wait a minute it will time out and let you use the app without updating. -

it keeps thinking its the first time i guess, every time i turn it on it updates. i just turned it on with wifi enabled, let it up date and went through the whole thing of selecting a source and a player then exited skifta after listening to a couple seconds of a song. I then turned off my wifi so my phone would only work 3/4G and it tryed to update and gave me this message "Skifta works over 3G but needs a wifi connection on first run. Please turn on wifi access in your device settings or click exit" well this is NOT the first run and i just let it update not 30 sec before.

Righto - sounds like you're configured incorrectly.
Connect to your home wifi.
Open Skifta.
Allow it to update.
Open the 'options' page in Skifta (press the menu button).
Click 'settings'.
Check 'mobile network support' on.
Exit Skifta.Disconnect from wifi.
Start Skifta. -

So - to confirm, your first issue is solved.
You now have local connectivity - but are unable to see your connections 'remotely'? -

yes, the skifta app now connects to my 3/4G network but neither the foobar or skifta programs are showing up unless the app is connected to wifi. i thought i might have had foobar configured incorrectly so i checked the skifta and well from what i can see the adjustments that can be made include a check box for Enable media server (checked) and the paths for my media (photo, video and music). Everything works great over wifi, both foobar and skifta stream great. I thank you for all your help with this problem. It is a great program and your customer service has been wonderful. hopefully we can get this resolved and you'll have a lifelong user of skiftas products.

And - can I just confirm here;
A) on your handset, when you are connecting via '3G', you select '1) choose a media source' and then you are clicking the 'remote' tab?B) With your handset connected via 3G, and your computer connected via wifi, start Skifta on both.
Using your computer web browser, login at http://www.skifta.com/ - click 'my connections'.
Which devices appear online? -

Why would my isp and or msp block skifta but not bubbleupnp? I tried them from seeing others fed up with similar issuses move over, but if them problem gets resolved quickly I will stay with you because I like your GUI/interface...whatever you want to call it better. But FYI bubble worked right off the bat with no extra setup, you show spy their software cuz you n them combine would he epic!
