Nope, PS3 Media Server didn't do it either. I can see them all in the list of available sources, but none of them return any content.

Ah, UR, and the "official XBMC Remote" from Team XBMC seem to connect via http. Got EVERYTHING turned on in that section though.

If it's any help, then the Channels don't seem to work either. I added the SHOUTcast Channel yesterday (which only turned up just now) and can't get anything from there either.

One thing I haven't tried yet is using Skifta over a mobile connection.

I'll take a look at logging later

Mobile connection seems like a no-go. Also noticed that my phone shows up as offline in "My Connections" here.

No, if it doesn't work locally, it won't work remotely.
This looks like something related to your network.
1) Is UPNP enabled on your router / WIFI switch?
2) Did you take a log? If so send it in to support@skifta.com and I'll take a look at it. Ensure you reference this thread.

Love skifta had an htc phne everything worked great, now i have an lg thrill and loaded skifta and now it says no media sources found,when i go to channels or remote and try to log in it says an error has occurred while updateing services....

I just installed Skifta on my Samsung Mini.
On my laptop runs Win7 Ultimate 64 and Media Player 12.

Skifta recognizes all my music..but here comes the strange thing.. not all of my playlists -- all generated in Media Player work. Only the smaller ones do....same happens when I select GENRE like R&B which in my case contains > 1000 songs.
In both cases it says No media Found.

Is there a limit in how many songs can be selected ?..or how many songs can be in a playlist ? Thanks

If you duplicate the breaking content lists and then reduce the number of items substantially, does it work?

If you content from another media browser (for instance twonky) do the playlists work?

Yes, when the list gets smaller (don´t know how small) than it works however, this is not only a playlist problem. As I said, when I pick e.g. genre=R&B than it happens too. To me it seems you only allow a certain number of songs.

I will do some testing with XBMC and let you know.

OK..here the promised update on XBMC. When I select genre=R&B there it works like a charm..fast too. I have the same number of songs there like I have in Media Player. Actually it is the same folder.
Skifta however, does not show the playlists generated in XBMC (I use the new Beta 3 there)

As mentioned on another thread - We're finding that subscribers who have a 'huge' amount of content on their media servers are having issues with displaying content in the client. This can be due to the media server taking too long to send the entire list of content, or because they blow the memory allocated on the device. I'll work with the team to diagnose the max limit of content and the max time it takes to receive the content list.

It appears that 74 is a "magic number" for this error.

Media Server: Windows 7/64, Intel e6300 with 4 GB RAM, 18.2 TB storage, using built-in Windows Media streaming.

Media tablet: Kindle Fire with Skifta

I have a large number of video clips of live performances taken from various ethnic fairs and other public venues. They are of varying length, anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours in duration.

I have tagged these with Titles, Subtitles, Contributing Artists, etc. using either the details pane in Windows Explorer or by details page in the file properties dialog.

Setting my server as Media Source the Fire tablet as the Player, selecting Videos|By Actor gives me a list of Contributing Artists. If a single Artist has 72 videos assigned, the list displays. If there are 74 or more videos under a single Artist name, Skifta returns "no media found".

I don't even want to think what my music library will do to Skifta . . .

Since this appears on the surface to be a timing or response timeout issue, the other items which could affect the data path are:

* my drive pool uses 10x 2TB WD Green drives, which run at 5400 RPM

* my LAN is Gigabit between the servers and desktops, but the link to the wireless router is 100 Mbit since the router only has a 100 Mbit switch built in.

* wireless is b/g/n

I've got a kindle fire here and had a fun couple of hours working this out.
I attempted to replicate the tests you indicated but using a different media server and have a range of points and tests for you :-)

So - I took a video: the Mp4 HD version of daft punks derezzed and copied it 160 times - so I have this file 160 time in my directory. I used the Skifta desktop media server and the Kindle fire as the client. I replicated your test and I can see all the items. I then repeated the test using XBMC as the media server with the same result.
Next, I mixed in a range of other mp4 content and repeated the test. With the same result.

1) If you take a known, working item of content and repeat this test, duplicating it more than 74 times, does it succeed for you?

2) Content: A colleague of mine raised a valid point which I'd forgotten about.. sometimes, garbage in the media file headers or tags can cause a media server or skifta to cease reading the media list --- perhaps for instance a character code which closes an xml tag in the response to the client and causes the xml that's being returned to become invalid.. if test 1 succeeds and you can identify a file in your collection that's causing the issue.. and let us know?

3) Media server: Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Windows media streaming. I've tested using XBMC and the Skifta media server (built in to the desktop client) to success. Have you tried another media server with the same batch of content?

I'm basically implying that you take all other content out and replicate a know working item of content.
